OmniTek launches new options at IBC 2003 First fruits from OmniTek and Pixelmetrix with Quality Auditor OmniTek launches unique Dual Link Waveform Monitor Zandar Technologies purchases OmniGen for Fusion Pro Development Accom Selects OmniTek for Extensive use in Research & Development Work OmniTek has announced that highly regarded, US-based equipment manufacturer Accom has purchased and installed OmniTek's innovative test and measurement solution for use in its laboratory. The company has purchased OmniLab, an integrated tool suite comprising OmniGen - a multi-format digital test signal generator with full-motion sequence playout capability - and OmniView - the advanced multi-format digital waveform monitor and signal analyser package. OmniTek's US distributor MPro oversaw the deal. Accom is an internationally recognised innovator in the digital video field. Widely know for its digital disk recording and editing technologies including the Abekas product range, Accom selected OmniTek for a multitude of reasons including solving an ongoing test and measurement problem for the company. The OmniLab system is an advanced, PC-based, programmable test and measurement platform that is invaluable for general video laboratory work. In addition, the capability to play out full-motion test sequences led Accom to select it for evaluating video compression codecs, core to the company's ongoing product development programme. UK Manufacturer Sales continue to Endorse OmniTek's Market Approach OmniTek has announced that another three important UK broadcast equipment manufacturers have purchased and installed OmniTek technology. Tandberg Television, Quartz Eelctronics and AccuScene Corporation have all selected the PC-based, application-driven test and measurement solution to further the development of significant elements of their product ranges. Mike Hodson, OmniTek's managing director, says, "Companies of this stature purchasing our solution continues to validate our flexible and cost-effective approach to the test and measurement marketplace." Cutting Edge Exploits OmniGen's Flexible Still Store Solution OmniTek has announced that Brisbane, Australia based Cutting Edge has purchased and installed an OmniGen system. The sale was concluded and overseen by OmniTek's Australian Distributor, Quinto Communications. Cutting Edge, a Post Production and facilities provider, is using the OmniGen solution - an advanced, PC-based multi-format test signal generator - in an innovative way as part of a wider digital video installation at the Brisbane Cricket Ground - the infamous Gabba. First used during the England versus Australia Ashes Test in November 2002, the installation is being deployed to drive the large-screen crowd display monitors at the ground. Media Matters Selects OmniView for Automated Digital Asset Management Solution Test and measurement manufacturer, OmniTek, has announced that Media Matters, recently established, New York-based digital asset management company, has signed a deal for the use of a bespoke version of OmniTek's OmniView multi-format digital waveform monitor and signal analyser package. Once again, this order continues to validate OmniTek's software-based approach to the test and measurement arena and its ability to listen and respond to the requirements of each and every customer and develop applications accordingly. Media Matters is a consultancy that deals with the archival of audio and video material and surrounding issues. It is currently in the process of developing and manufacturing the first of the SAMMA units - the System for the Automated Migration of Media Archives. This will use robotics and customised software and hardware to migrate large quantities of audio and video material at any one given time without compromising the quality and integrity of the originals. These SAMMA units will then be leased to archival companies. Each unit will be customised to the exact specifications for the task at hand based on the input and output requirements. The unit will then be shipped to the site where the automated features will vastly speed up the archival process. SAMMA can handle up to fifteen tapes in a row without human intervention and can supply four outputs simultaneously. Media Matters has selected OmniView as the signal analyser. OmniTek has created and supplied a bespoke version of OmniView according to the specific requirements of Media Matters and this is key to its market approach. Steve Kwartek, sales and marketing manager with Media Matters, adds, "OmniTek has already proven itself to be a highly responsive company and the benefits of its software-based approach in this arena are clear. The ability to write specific applications for customers has already proven itself in our case. This allows the audio and video quality on each tape to be accurately monitored while playing back through the unit." Mike Hodson, OmniTek's managing director, add, "OmniTek's products have been designed with this flexibility in mind. This announcement, along with others already revealed and developing relationships, clearly indicates the need for such an approach in the test and measurement and associated fields." Once OmniView has gathered the metadata, it is then output in the desired file format either alongside the actual converted media (AAF or MXF) or as a separate XML file. The information gathered from OmniView also dictates how the material is processed. All this is fully automated. This is an ongoing relationship with each SAMMA unit built containing OmniView technology. Media Matters will also be selling the internal subsystems of SAMMA separately to those that desire it and these will incorporate OmniView. Fox Digital Television Laboratory, purchases OmniGen Major US broadcaster Fox, via its Fox Digital Television Laboratory, has purchased and installed OmniTek's OmniGen test and measurement solution. OmniGen is an advanced, PC-based multi-format test signal generator that supports all HD and SD formats. The deal was concluded and overseen by OmniTek's US dealer MPro. Fox's DTV Laboratory, part of the New Technology Group, examines new technology solutions in detail prior to deciding how useful they are and whether they should be recommended for deployment by the broadcaster. This process can involve detailed specifications checks and always requires a high level of accuracy. Fox needed to upgrade its legacy equipment to conduct these key tasks more quickly and efficiently and as part of that upgrading required the ability to define its own test signals. This led Jim DeFilippis, VP of television engineering with the New Technology Group, to OmniTek. He explains, "The feature that really placed the OmniGen ahead of other possibilities is that we can really create test patterns or capture images and import them as graphics files. We can now capture signals and then use the OmniGen as a still store." DeFilippis says, "The OmniTek product has made our lives a lot easier because it used to take us forever to determine new test signals. "If we had a new device that we needed to check with a different format, or we wanted to check some particular attribute and there was no known test signal, then to do that in a realistic time frame was simply not possible. Courtesy of OmniTek, now it is." Michael Hodson, managing director of Omnitek, says: "This deployment by Fox's Digital Television Laboratory is a significant validation of OmniTek's product philosophy and its cost-effective and technically advanced solutions for today's broadcast environments." |
